Course Description

We all love Excel, right? It is easy to use, intuitive to understand, and great for building reports and performing custom calculations. So, why is it so difficult to get our QBO finance data in Excel in a repeatable manner that allows for automation?

In this session, we will explore and demonstrate the various methods available. You will leave the session with a much more thorough understanding of available choices, their pros and cons, and what would be relevant for you, your organization, and your customers.

David Ringstrom, CPA, will walk you through the following techniques:

  • Streamlining manual exports from QuickBooks Online to Excel

  • Automating QuickBooks Online Report clean-up with Power Query

  • Creating direct connections to QuickBooks Online with Spreadsheet Sync

Chris Meyer will then demonstrate a fourth approach:

  • Custom report building, refresh & and automation of QuickBooks Online finance data directly in Excel using the Flash Reports app

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify which section of the Excel Options dialog box allows access to the Protected View setting

  • State which versions of QuickBooks Online offer the Spreadsheet Sync feature

  • Recall which menu tab contains the Edit command for editing data loaded from Power Query

  • Evaluate how to re-collect the various reporting use cases that can be automated using the Flash Reports app
