This webinar will discuss the taxation of the most common uses and transactions with cryptocurrency, as well as common instruments issued within the cryptocurrency and blockchain community such as Utility and Security Tokens and Simple Agreements for Future Tokens (SAFTs).  This webinar will also provide brief updates addressing cryptocurrency and blockchain including the IRS’ recently-issued Revenue Ruling (2019-24) and answers to frequently asked questions related to transactions involving virtual currency.

  • Identify and determine the proper tax treatment for common transactions involving cryptocurrency, including business vs. personal use.

  • Understand the key topics addressed by the IRS in recently-issued Revenue Ruling 2019-24 and how this impacts the taxation of virtual currency going forward.

  • Determine the proper tax reporting requirements involving virtual currencies.
