Course Description

Unfortunately, the SECURE Act did away with Stretch IRA for most people who inherit in 2020 or later and replaced it with a 10-year payout provision for most non-spouse beneficiaries. Don’t fret: Planning is not lost! It has just begun, especially for wealthy clients who understand that their IRA may be worth much, much less after both income and estate taxes are paid. Taking a taxable distribution of all or part of a traditional IRA now may not be such a bad idea since income tax rates are likely to increase.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the impact resulting from the change in legislation

  • List ways to leverage distribution into a simulated stretch IRA

  • Determine the best strategy to avoid tax disasters
